What does this really mean.

NO it doesn't have to be line of site. If you have a line of sight situation - it will transmit 800 metres. If there are trees, buildings between the sensor and the house etc, you may only get 500, 600 or possibly 700 metres range. The ONLY CONCLUSIVE way to confirm if this will work for you is to try our 30 Day trial period
